The Journal of Thematic Instruction (JTI) is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to advancing knowledge through the publication of original research and other scholarly works that emphasize innovative, theme-based educational practices across diverse disciplines. JTI seeks to provide a platform for scholars, educators, and practitioners to explore interdisciplinary approaches, share insights on contemporary instructional themes, and contribute to the enrichment of the global educational landscape.
The focus of JTI’s manuscripts will emphasize work conducted in higher education settings. Each submission undergoes a rigorous double-blind peer review to ensure high standards of academic quality and integrity. Manuscripts are evaluated for their contribution to the knowledge base, topical relevance, originality, clarity, and adherence to JTI's formatting and submission guidelines.
NOTE: There is no required fee for authors to publish in this journal.
Who Can Submit
JTI welcomes submissions from all individuals who hold copyright over their work or have authorization from copyright holders to publish it. Authors retain initial copyright ownership, although academic and institutional agreements may require copyright assignment in some cases.
Publication Ethics and Integrity
JTI is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the scientific record to address any instances of ethical misconduct. Authors are expected to adhere to high ethical standards, which include the originality of work, transparency in data reporting, and proper APA citation practices to maintain the trust and professionalism central to scholarly publishing. Authors are also encouraged to contact their Institutional Review Board (IRB) to determine if IRB approval is needed to publish in JTI.

Published articles in JTI are accessible through Digital Commons at SUNY, Buffalo State University, where authors and readers can engage with high-quality research findings and other scholarly works. Authors are allowed to store, share, and distribute their work under specific personal-use exemptions, ensuring that research dissemination supports both individual and academic advancement.

Ethical Responsibility of Authors
The Journal of Thematic Instruction is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the scientific record. Authors submitting to this journal are expected to uphold the principles of scientific honesty and integrity, as these are foundational to both individual credibility and the trustworthiness of the journal.
In line with good scientific practices, authors should observe the following:
- Originality and Exclusivity of Submission:
- Manuscripts submitted to Journal of Thematic Instruction should not be under consideration by any other journal simultaneously.
- Authors must ensure that their work is original and unpublished in any language, except in cases where new submissions extend previously published work. Transparency in re-use is encouraged to avoid issues related to self-plagiarism.
- Avoidance of Redundant Publication:
- A single study should not be divided into multiple submissions to increase publication volume. Concurrent or secondary publication may be allowed under specific conditions, such as translations or submissions for a different readership.
- Transparency and Accuracy in Data Representation:
- Research results must be presented clearly and honestly, without any data manipulation or falsification. This includes avoiding inappropriate alterations, especially in visual data (such as images).
- Authors are responsible for following disciplinary standards for data collection, selection, and processing.
- Proper Attribution and Avoidance of Plagiarism:
- Authors must not present others' ideas, text, or theories as their own. Proper acknowledgment of sources is essential, including verbatim quotations and closely paraphrased material. Permission for copyrighted material must be obtained where necessary.
- Journal of Thematic Instruction may use plagiarism detection software to screen submissions.
- Permission for External Tools and Resources:
- Authors should secure appropriate permissions for using software, questionnaires, surveys, or measurement scales in their research if applicable.
- Relevant Literature Citation:
- All claims within the manuscript must be supported by appropriate and relevant citations, avoiding excessive self-citation or collective self-citation.
- Responsible Communication:
- Authors should avoid defamatory statements about entities or individuals and refrain from statements that could be perceived as personal attacks or accusations.
- Identification of Potentially Harmful Research:
- Research with potential misuse (such as dual-use research with public health or national security risks) should be clearly identified, and appropriate ethical considerations should be observed.
- Accuracy in Authorship Attribution:
- The order and group of authors should be finalized at submission. Changes in authorship after submission are generally discouraged but may be considered with valid justification. No changes are permitted after manuscript acceptance.
- Provision of Supporting Data:
- Authors should be ready to provide data or documentation to verify research results upon request, excluding confidential or proprietary data.
- Rejecting the manuscript if still under review.
- Publishing a correction, expression of concern, or, in severe cases, a retraction if already published.
- Informing the author's institution.
- Adding a notice of ethical standards transgression to the author’s record.
