Description

In response to the last federal review of the child welfare system in New York State, the Office of Children & Family Services set a goal to “improve the stability and satisfaction of the child welfare workforce.” This poster presentation will provide an overview of a literature review that highlighted several issues related to workforce stability and retention that could be addressed through effective supervisory practice. Two of those issues, the need to develop resilience in child welfare workers and the need to develop a personal sense of professionalism in child welfare workers emerged as critical. The presentation will focus on supervisory practices that can positively impact both issues and promote both the stability and satisfaction of the workforce.
