These documents provide three types of data. First, they provide information on Zofia Drzewieniecki, her marriages, education, and family members. Second, they help document her association with the Red Cross and YMCA during WWII. Third, they illustrate some types of documents issued by the British forces to civilians associated with the Polish Armed forces in WWII.

Post card sent by Maria Wiśniewska to her daughter Zofia Krzyżanowska (nee Zofia Wiśniewska; later: Zofia Drzewieniecki) from the Polish ship Batory on August 25, 1939, six days before WWII began. Mrs. Wiśniewski was on the way to the United States to visit her sister who was married to Wacław Gawroński, the Polish Consul-General in Chicago and her younger son Maciej (already in Chicago on a visit). She never returned to Poland and died in Buffalo, NY.
