Foundations, Theory and Practice of Bilingual General and Special Education

Abstract

This course covers theories of bilingual education and bilingualism; sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics. The history, legal foundations, and current practices in bilingual general and bilingual special education are examined. Multicultural perspectives in education are explored, including an overview of linguistics and English grammar. Issues and trends in the education of multilingual learners with and without disabilities are examined.
