Abstract
Working in Information Technology is a color-by-number profession. The solutions to problems are already identified and known, the implementation is step by step of following instructions, and it can be done by four-year-olds. This Master’s project examines and reflects on my exploration into training and managing a technical support department at a higher education institution. Too often we receive a phone call or an email explaining a problem that could have easily been solved in the same time as the conversation, the lack of problem solving could arguably be attributed to how easy it is to find someone else to fix the problem. This project focuses on bringing creativity into a workplace where problems are solved, and specifically not passed on.
