Description

Mrs. Heyman was a graduate of New York State School of Fine and Applied Arts and received a B.A. degree from Western Reserve University. She received a M.A. degree from New York University. Mrs. Heyman also received an honorable discharge from the Student Nursing Corps after serving for a year during WWI. Mrs. Heyman was a professor of Art Education at the State University College at Buffalo for 35 years until she retired in 1967. When she retired, she became the first recipient of the college’s Citation of Appreciation. Besides teaching, Mrs. Heyman wrote for three magazines to help elementary school teachers use children’s artwork to understand the individual child. She passed away on March 5, 2000.
