Description
Wiesław Arlet (1907-1988) with his dog in front of the Polish Consulate, Berlin, 1932. At the time, Arlet worked in the consulate with Zofia Wiśniewska (later: Zofia Krzyżanowska, Zofia Drzewieniecki). On September 1, 1939, he was Councilor of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chief of the Press Bureau of the General Commissariat of the Polish Republic in Danzig (Gdańsk) and was arrested by the Nazis. He later found his way to the U.S. and worked with the U.S. State Department and in Polish-American community activities. He and Zofia stayed in touch.
