Description
The purpose of this study was to investigate strategic management in the private club industry. General Managers and other top executives from 85 private clubs in New York State participated in this quantitative study. Statistical analyses indicated that Perceived Environmental Uncertainty (PEU), the size of clubs, and club managers’ outlook into the future have significant impacts on clubs\' Budget System Characteristics (BSC). The implication of the constructs PEU and BSC in the private club context generated acceptable results in terms of validity and reliability. Discussions and implications of the findings were presented.
