Politics & History of Modern Terrorism II
Abstract
History and politics of terrorism from the Cold War until today. The second of a two-part course sequence. Definitions of terrorism with and without state actors. Questions of geopolitical, socioeconomic and cultural causation. Current methodology and empirical research of terrorism. Typology of terrorism including historical analysis of jihadi extremist and narco-terrorist groups. Focus on controversies about state response regarding legal rights, proceedings, immigration and addressing political, social and cultural issues. Offered annually each spring semester.
