Abstract

Examines the creation, use, influence and position of sacred music throughout the course of Western history; Analyze how this music reflects the cultural values of the society in which it was created and also demonstrates the beliefs and attitudes of the various institutions that supported its creation and provided the context for its performance; Explore how the understanding of this repertoire may be made more meaningful by reflective personal experience and inspire a broader awareness of humanity.
