Description
Charles P. LaMorte was born March 10, 1922. He earned his Bachelor’s in Science and Humanities in 1949, his Master’s in Student Personnel and Social Studies in 1950, and Doctorate in Student Personnel Administration, and Guidance in 1955 from Columbia University. He served in the Air Force during WWII. He was an admissions assistant at Columbia University from 1953-55.
In 1955, Charles LaMorte came to the State University College for Teachers at Buffalo as an Assistant to the President and as an Assistant Professor of Education. In 1961, Dr. LaMorte was appointed Dean of Students, a post he held until 1964. From 1964 to 1970, he held the position of Vice President for Student Affairs. He continued to teach while in this position. After Vice President was promoted to Coordinator of the Student Personnel Administration Program and taught in the Department of Behavioral and Humanistic Studies. Additionally, he was chairman of that department from 1976-79. He retired in 1991. Dr. LaMorte passed away on February 24, 2006.
