Research on Acculturation of Ethnic Minority Students in China

Ethnic minority students with their own cultures, as an important subculture group of China’s Multicultural Education System, are merging with the majority culture nowadays. Under this intercultural background, they are facing multiple challenges, including culture shock and acculturation, and these consequences cannot be overlooked. This paper aimed at analyzing the current situation of ethnic minority education in China, studying in the manifestation and cause of ethnic minority students’ culture adoption. The differences of manners, customs, language and culture between minority cultures and majority culture, educational equality under multicultural education system all have profound significance to the acculturation problem. At the end of the article measures were proposed in order to maintain a harmony environment between minority cultures and the majority culture.
