Description

James A. Battistoni was born on April 20, 1921 in Buffalo, N.Y. He attended Public Schools #35 and #6 and Buffalo Technical High School from which he graduated in 1939. From 1942 to 1945 he served in the Army. On Feb 15, 1943 he married Ines Silvestrini. In 1948, James Battistoni entered Buffalo State College for Teachers and graduated with a B.S. and M.S in Art Education from Buffalo State.

James Battistoni taught art in the Clarence Central School System from 1953 to 1965. In 1965, he was appointed Assistant Professor in the Art Education Department. Professor Battistoni was the Director of the On-Campus Art Program at SUNY Buffalo State that was developed as a free, eight week, on-campus program to teach children and young student’s art. In 1973, James Battistoni received his Ed.D from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Battistoni retired from SUNY Buffalo State in the spring of 1981.
