Abstract

This research report is a learning and practice experience on research on suitable smartphones for information management for legal work. The author compared the five most popular smartphones on the market and recommended smartphones that are highly efficient for performance and cost-effective for legal workers. The author has been working on the project with J&W Law Firm as a volunteer product researcher from 2017 to today. The research results have been continually updated with the most advanced technology to law firm partners’ requirements. During the project, the author needs to communicate with legal workers to understand their best needs for smartphone usage. Not only using a phone for calling and texting, but an easy use tool that is suitable for multitasks. Instant information sharing and editing are a must for smartphones in the legal working field. Through this experience of community participation and business development, the author not only acquires solid knowledge and skills in the query and analysis process but also learns the value of communication and collaboration. He is in close contact with the community, bringing his professional skills to contribute to build trust in academic research and work ethic to the real society. This study applies ethnographic method to analyze the data collection. The research shows that the author is committed to solving practical problems, making academic learning meaningful, and improving his social, analytical, and professional development skills.
