Department Chair: Dr. Gary Solar

Earth Sciences and Science Education

Earth science majors study the earth as a dynamic, interactive system of land, sea, atmosphere, and solar system. Geology is the study of materials and processes that form and shape the earth.

Our programs provide an authoritative background for those interested in pursuing careers as scientists or earth science educators. Our small class sizes promote close faculty-student interactions and our programs offer a blend of theory and commitment to field study.

Many of our graduates go on to work in field and laboratory research, geologic consulting, environmental protection, and teaching, to name just a few occupational options.
